As spring begins to blossom in the Fraser Valley that can only mean one thing: it’s tulip time. BC’s only Tulip Trail begins next month, stretching between the Tulips of the Valley Festival in Chilliwack and Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival. The close proximity of the Valley’s two tulip festivals means it’s easy to make your day even more awesome blossom and explore all that the Fraser Valley has to offer.
Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival features a stunning photo worthy field with over 2.5 million colourful tulips. There are over 40 varieties on display as well as a u-pick field and a market to purchase your own bouquet to take home.
Check out Bloom’s website for information on their high bloom and low bloom rates and be sure to pre-purchase your tickets online before arriving. You can also find helpful tips online such as wearing shoes you don’t mind getting muddy and weather updates!
In addition to the tulips, don’t miss the creative photo cut-out boards, food trucks and covered picnic tables, artisan market and children’s play area.
Hours: Open daily 9am-7:30pm, weather dependent.
Magic hour passes available that allow access from sunrise until 9am.
This year marks the 12th Annual Tulips of the Valley Festival, featuring 20 acres of tulips planted in extra wide rows, allowing the farmers to plant many more bulbs per square foot. This is a working farm, with the ultimate product being the bulb which is used for cut flower operations in their family greenhouses known as Onos Greenhouses.
New this year, alongside the 20 acres of tulips and over seven million bulbs, there will be two acres of vibrant beautiful smelling hyacinths and three acres of double or “peony” daffodils on display.
The festival will also feature a display garden, giant ceramic tulips for photo ops, floral mosaics, kids craft area, food trucks, the Chilliwack Fraser Rotary Train which will take visitors around the fields on weekends (weather dependent) and more!
Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-6pm
Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 9am-6pm
